Carbon Shredders Recognized by Congress

Aug 4, 2008 05:01 pm

The following floor statement was made on August 1 by Vermont Congressman Peter Welch: The 110th Congress has been focused on rising energy prices, protecting our environment, and finding concrete, long term solutions to climate change. The scientific evidence is clear: global warming is real, it is urgent, and it requires our immediate attention. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the dedicated efforts of Carbon Shredders, a grassroots environmental group based in the Mad River Valley of Vermont. read more

We have miles to go before we sleep, before we move the paradigm to the next evolution when realizing the impact of all our decisions Seven Generations out is the MO; how do we do this given the enormous time constraints we all feel? Here are some words of wisdom that can renew the will to move change forward from Peter Senge’s (ChangeAgent guru) The Fifth Discipline Fieldbook:

"People who are convinced that a vision or result is important, who can see clearly that they must change their life in order to reach that result, and who commit themselves to that result nonetheless, do indeed feel compelled. They have assimilated the vision not just consciously, but unconsciously, at a level where it changes more of their behavior. They have a sense of deliberate patience--with themselves and the world--and more attentiveness to what is going on around them. All of this produces a sustained sense of energy and enthusiasm, which (often after a delay) produces some tangible results, which can then make the energy and enthusiasm stronger."
