For the months of May and June 2009, our family will be touring the U.S. in our vegetable oil-powered VW Beetle as an eco-video travel project. We will be visiting large-scale sites like wind and solar farms, as well as new companies with potentially game-changing technologies that will be key to a sustainable future. We will also be interviewing people whose ideas and actions have inspired many to live more sustainably. Our 9-year-old son Carrick, whose award-winning eco-videos have been seen online by over 200,000 people, will narrate our videos. We will produce all our videos together into a DVD that will be distributed to schools, libraries, organizations, individuals, and to online media. We will also use the DVD as the basis for giving presentations in schools to help empower children to create a more renewable, sustainable future.

Here's some more info about our eco-video travel project we're planning for May/June 2009. We'll be crossing the U.S. (in our vegetable-oil powered Beetle of course) visiting renewable energy sites (solar, wind farms, wave and tidal power, geothermal, hydroelectric, biogas) and meeting people who have made important contributions to sustainability. We'll be making a series of video profiles at stops along the way, and at the end of our 2-month adventure we'll be putting all the videos together as a documentary for kids to see what kind of solutions are out there. We want to empower and inspire them to create a renewable, sustainable future - kids (and grownups too) need to know that this kind of future is possible, and we can help by showing examples of people, companies, and technologies that are making that happen.
We created a website, www.OurRenewableNation.org, that has a quick 3-minute video which explains the trip, and you can see our list of destinations. We really need your help to spread the word about our eco-video travel project! You can check out our website and our video, and tell your friends and family about our project.
