The Research

This entry is in part due to responding to DonL (my brother-in-law), who made a comment on my last post. I haven't been active on this site in a while as I've had some interesting stuff occur in my regular life. In addition, I really need to focus on cleaning out that garage for easier (and pain free) access to the Alfa.

I am looking into a couple of sites for parts, with some selling kits that have everything for the engine sans batteries. There are a couple of sites selling conversion kits, batteries, etc to help the budding and professional EV-enthusiast. THere was a rather nice looking site that had a great catalogue, but I have misplaced the link (likely bookmarked on my work machine). One of the things that bothers me as I scour web sites for parts is how poorly designed and laid out these sites are. It's a bit of a deterent, but I'll muddle through for science. I need to price a lot of this stuff out, figure out the cost and what it takes to actually gut the vehicle, and come up with an overall plan of attack with timeline on getting it all done.

Don, that link is awesome. I will definitely be using that for some reference (http://www.skewray.com/alfa/). Currently, I am looking at a couple of books, like "Build Your Own Electric Vehicle" by Bob Brant (to hit shelves in October). I am also following other people as they convert their cars, like Kearon de Clout's conversion of a Capri (http://www.evcapri.com/ -- awesome!). I am on the Austin EV mailinglist, but currently, they are talking well beyond my comprehension about stuff that I either don't understand yet or aren't even at that point to consider in my own project.
