Since the airing of the Sundance Channel "Big Ideas for a Small Planet" show where POWERleap was featured, I've received a large wave of emails. Some people just want to cheer me on and congratulate me, others want to offer their two cents on the idea, and others have very interesting and unexpected questions. Overall, I must say that I am elated to hear from people of all disciplines, it makes me appreciate my work even more and is certainly fuel to drive my progress.
In case I made you curious enough, here are some excerpts:
THE THINK TANKERS
"I saw you on the big ideas show and was struck not by your idea (which is brilliant) but by the way you seem to think. I believe you actually have what it takes to make a meaningful change to this world with this and future ideas. I also like that you incorporated education as part of the design. Please let me know what you need from me in order for me to be part of your team."
"My roommate and I were discussing all the possible applications and just how much potential energy could be created on a busy sidewalk or in a shopping mall or grocery store or anywhere."
"I am in the process of developing a green hostel/mixed-use nightlife concept and was curious to learn about whether POWERleap would be potentially implementable as part of an energy generating dancefloor?"
"But here is my question, I noticed that you have to have the materials bend in order to have an electrical current begin, but how much pressure would you guess needs to be on it to make it bend. Reason why I'm asking is because while reading your explanation of the POWERLeap, you could essentially have it incorporated with a keyboard or phones or different office equipment that have buttons that are being pressed down frequently, right?"
"I think this is incredible. I can only imagine the different application of and areas that would benefit. Gee - basically any area with high traffic, as well as obviously a home (actually seems endless the opportunity)."
THE GOOD RAMBLERS
"I have never responded to anything I have ever viewed on television, but I was so intrigued by your research that I immediately wanted to learn more.
I would also like this company to assist the individual researchers, scientists, and companies who are working on these technologies to assist each other (respecting all patents and proprietary information, of course) by having a central database of research that individuals, researchers, or third world governments with limited resources may not normally have access to."
"I personally wish to be an eco- engineer and i am always looking for new ways to do things and people like you inspire me and give me a true belief that i can make a difference in the wold and bring about a brighter future I want to loin the Lexus living program or another funded program to learn and maybe even design something sustainable and i hope your projects can be included into my designs"
THE CONCERNED DEBATER
"I am a Cross-Examination debater our topic this year has to do with alternative energy. The reason i'm contacting is that i am currently making an affirmative case that has to do with piezo electricity, and stumbled upon your project description, I have been able to come with all the information i need except for what has stopped the technology from being widely used. In debate part of the case has to describe why something isn't in place yet, if it doesn't the opposing team can argue that there is no proof that it isn't being used, so logically it might be already in place. I am only asking where i could find that information, and i would very much apreciate your help."
THE SUPPORTERS
"Anyway, keep up the good work and good luck with MIT. "
"can't WAIT to see Power Leap! i vote for you as president."
I hope that is a sufficient enough review of the fuel that is feeding my fire lately. I'm lucky to have so many volunteers to offer their encouragement. For all of you responders who read this, I'm working on replying to you all personally as the email come rolling in!
