Make a difference for survivors everywhere

Marc Young

Marc Young has been with Hands On Disaster Response since Hurricane Katrina hit the coast of Louisiana in 2005. He was soon after brought aboard as an Operations Director to lead volunteer projects.

Since then, Marc has lead a project in Sawit, Indonesia providing aid to earthquake survivors in 2006, Santo Domingo, Philippines aiding the survivors of Typhoon Reming in 2007, Pisco, Peru providing relief for earthquake victims in 2007 and is now in Rayenda, Bangladesh beginning a new volunteer project to assist the survivors of Cyclone Sidr that hit in November 2007.

He has lead hundreds of volunteers at each project to complete projects such as rebuilding schools, building temporary homes, removing debris, tarping roofs, rebuilding a fishing fleet, restoring livelihoods, restoring irrigation systems, and (his favorite) working with other NGOs to provide backpacks, activities, and classrooms for the local children.

He has spent many Thanksgivings, Christmases, and New Year's with his new families around the world. He is a caring, self-less person who started as just a volunteer and now leads this nonprofit to achieving so much more.

He deserves to be named a Change Agent because he truly believes and demonstrated the Hands On Disaster Response motto, "Be The Change."
