Gamers – Don’t let anyone tell you that you are not spending your time productively. Thanks to PopTech, Changents learned about Ivan Marovic, a core leader in the student-resistance group, Otpor (Resistance) that helped oust Slobodan Milosevic. Ivan's open sourced his experiences through a pioneering video game, A Force More Powerful. Ivan wanted to expand beyond the traditional media he already used to spread his knowledge – books, films, talks. So Ivan banded together with a film production company, a gaming company & a non-profit to make A Force More Powerful. Gamers exercise virtual strategies for building revolutions before trying them in the real world (and have fun). It’s not all about taking down dictators – players can also tackle corruption, end discrimination against women, head an environmental campaign, or make up their own scenarios. Change Agent Marovic still trains people in peaceful resistance and he points out the beauty of their game: “One can’t intimidate a disk.” I've posted an article in Wired Magazine about Ivan. Check it out.
