Have you ever thought about the environmental ramifications of going out? Well Stef van Dongen has. A lot. Stef, director of Enviu, an environmental group for young entrepreneurs, is the visionary behind the Sustainable Dance Club (SDC). The SDC dance floor generates electricity from the bodies of thrashing youth. In collaboration with architecture firm Döll and the Delft University of Technology, plans are underway to create a mobile version of the SDC to showcase its features across Europe. The design concept will include an online “toolbox” where eco-clubbers can share ideas and club owners can get inspired. We have not been able to find the toolbox yet, but if you hear about it before we do, please post to this message board. Next time I am in Holland, you can rest assured that I am headed over to SDC to check out the toilets that flush with rainwater and (just maybe) taste the leftovers recycled into new and exciting entrees!
