About Me

Bob's journey has taken him from wildlife to making contributions in sustainability. Bob helped restore wolves to Yellowstone and oyster bars in the Chesapeake. He championed the cause of small farmers and, more recently, he launched the Fossil Free by '33 movement in California. He is an accomplished writer, educator and strategic thinker who has held senior positions with Defenders of Wildlife, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Community Environmental Council. He’s served on numerous boards and advisory panels dealing with issues ranging from invasive species control and sewage abatement to freeway widening and airport redesign. At Yestermorrow, Bob has focused on managing the school’s phenomenal growth, implementing the strategic plan, and incorporating his own special brand of envelope-pushing into the school’s curriculum and extracurricular activities. He recently co-edited a book on natural building, a leader in an effort to save an iconic local farm, helped launch a low carbon diet group, and is a Thought Leader and Founding Member on Greenopolis.com website.

  • Hey Big Green Bus Folks: It took me a while but I finally made the connection. You guys were the next campsite over from us in Green Pod # 3 at Bonnaroo. We were the Carbon Shredders who traveled down from Vermont in the Solar Bus to create the Bonnaroo Carbon Shredders. Good to have you as neighbors in the land of $7 showers and glad you are also working on lowering carbon footprints where ever you land. • Here is the team getting ready to board the solar bus on the way down to Bonnaroo--a twenty-four hour trip powered by bio-diesel, veggie oil, and good intentions.
